Think Smart, Be Safe, Stay Healthy

As a young adult, there are many aspects of everyday life than can cause wear and tear on not only your physical health but your mental health as well. Peer pressure is rampant among teenagers, and often times they are not fully equipped to handle it. Although it can, and most likely will, get difficult at times, there are steps you can take to avoid getting drawn into the bad crowd.

The first step is to learn to say no and learn to think before you speak. If someone asks you to participate in something that goes against your morals or values, then give in to peer pressure and just say no. This can be especially difficult to do if your friend or someone important to you is the culprit. Peer pressure is rampant among people of any age, so it is vital that you learn to manage peer pressure. Even though it can be hard, the benefits of learning to say no and making better judgement are endless.

The second step is to not put yourself into a situation that you are not one hundred percent sure you cannot get out of. In other words: Be Safe. Hundreds teenagers are wounded or die in accidents that could have easily been avoided if they had used the first step. Being safe is done by using common sense and being defensive when it comes to your well-being.

The third step to living a fulfilling life as a teenager is to stay healthy. Being healthy is essentially your foundation, since without your health you can not rise to your full potential. Although this is you foundation, it is also often neglected. Substance abuse is rampant among teenagers. Knowing what substances are harmful and avoiding people who use them is a surefire way to live a healthier lifestyle.
